Myofascial Release Therapy
Myofascial release is a specialised soft tissue therapy for the treatment and rehabilitation of tension and restrictions in the body causing immobility and pain. This therapy aims to relax contracted muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulate the stretch reflex in muscles.
Fascia is the 3 dimensional web of connective tissue that runs in a continuous fashion throughout the entire body. Essentially, the network of fascia is the "glue" that holds the body together. It's function is to provide support, stability, and cushioning.
Fascial restrictions can be caused by repetitive activities, injury, poor posture, and even emotional trauma or distress.

What to expect?
The first session takes 90 minutes, which includes, filling out a health history form, a postural assessment followed by hands on treatment. Skin to skin contact is important to engage the tissue without gliding. Clients must not apply any moisturisers or other lotions prior to the session. Clients wear minimal clothing: loose fitting shorts and t-shirt is optional. Gentle, sustained pressure is applied in areas of restriction, allowing the tissue to relax and stretch until a release occurs.
